Microsoft's Cortana and Amazon Alexa have called it in accord, as Microsoft dropped the Cortana-Alexa integration. The company dropped it in September 2021, taking it to the internet until November.
If you tried to use the Cortana skill on an Alexa Device, the voice assistant would likely have responded, "Sorry, the Cortana skill is no longer available." Of course, since no one seems to have noticed the integration was missing, very few people were likely to hear Alexa say that.
"As of September 18, we decided to end Cortana in the Alexa experience as it previously existed and shifted our resources from Cortana to focus on productivity within Microsoft 365," said a Microsoft Pcmag spokesperson. We're guessing that so few people used Cortana on Amazon Alexa devices that it just didn't make sense for Microsoft to dedicate resources.
With Cortana barely a part of the Windows 11 Experience, it looks like Microsoft is moving on from voice assistant. Time Google Assistant and Alexa They are trendy, but it doesn't seem like Microsoft's assistant received the same popularity.
